Seven Ideas to Help Inspire and Guide Your Life

What we think about impacts our living, who we feel and how we act. I want to share a few ideas and quotes that have landed for me today. These ideas may not be new but sometimes we need reminding of the things we know to be true and not just look for something new.

My hope with these seven ideas is that perhaps one of them will support you to navigate whatever in your life you are dealing with today.

Seven Ideas to Inspire and Guide a Well Lived Life

1. When we fall, reflection is a gift we can give ourselves

Don’t look where you fall, but where you slipped. – African proverb

2. Watch for assumptions that keep you in the dark and rob you of your best life.

Begin challenging your own assumptions. Your assumptions are your windows on the world. Scrub them off every once in awhile, or the light won’t come in. – Alan Alda

Whenever you see darkness, there is extraordinary opportunity for the light to burn brighter. – Bono

3. Look at problems as opportunities to be uncovered, not as an obstacle to be avoided.

Every problem has a gift for you in its hands. – Richard Bach

You cannot solve a problem from the same consciousness that created it. You must learn to see the world anew. – Albert Einstein

4. Forgiveness opens the door for healing and the opportunity for a new view.

Forgiveness does not change the past, but it does enlarge the future. – Paul Boese

Don’t let yesterday use up too much of today. – Cherokee proverb

5. Reframing the obstacles you see matters.

People are disturbed not by things, but by the view they take of them. – Epictetus

6. Getting out of your comfort zone is difficult but often the pathway towards a larger life.

Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore. – André Gide

7. Take time today to truly listen to someone today

Listening is not waiting to talk. – Scott Ginsberg

Deep listening, compassionate listening is not listening with the purpose of analyzing or even uncovering what has happened in the past…Deep listening is the kind of listening that helps us to keep compassion alive while the other speaks. During this time you have in mind only one idea, one desire: to listen in order to give the other person the chance to speak out and suffer less. — Thích Nhất Hạnh
